Do Online Spanish Classes Work For Kids?

Here at La Paz Language Academy, we’ve helped thousands of people learn to read, write, and speak Spanish and other foreign languages using a variety of teaching platforms, including online. Despite our overwhelming success, many parents are hesitant to enroll their children in our online Spanish classes for kids because they are skeptical that online classes will work for kids. In today’s post, we’ll help quell those fears and answer the question — spoiler alert, it’s a resounding yes, it works!

Interactive Learning Opportunities

During the academic school year, La Paz Language Academy offers online courses for children and adults alike. Rather than a college-style platform with lectures and lessons, the children’s online Spanish classes allow students to participate in a variety of artistic activities that allow them to play and explore a new culture and language. They’ll watch videos, learn songs, and practice writing Spanish letters. Using a variety of instruction delivery allows children to absorb information in various ways and use what they’ve learned in ways that come naturally, just as they learned their primary language!

Learning Through Play

Online Spanish classes for kids use plenty of play to teach and reinforce language comprehension and provide a cultural experience from afar. Studying disguised as play isn’t homework at all! Your child will learn songs in Spanish and play interactive games that may be traditional to a Spanish culture or encourage the use of their new Spanish vocabulary. You’ll be amazed at how the online games tap into your child’s critical thinking skills and support information retention.

Learn at Their Own Pace (and, Attention Span!)

One of the reasons that online learning works well for students of all ages is the ability to learn at their own pace. Gone are the days of structured, timed lectures and follow-up quizzes. Your child can complete a lesson at their own pace, going back as needed. Long-term projects and consolidation songs and games help to reinforce vocabulary and keep your child moving forward at their own pace and attention span!

Supplemental Opportunities

While online language classes are incredibly successful and provide useful tools to students, the best way to learn anything is through repetition and immersion. If Spanish is not spoken at home or the child does not have the opportunity to use their new skills outside of the online classroom, skills may be lost. At La Paz Language Academy, we offer supplemental opportunities including summer camps and special language programs to enhance learning.
